Under the general supervision and direction of the Director of Marketing, and following prescribed department, office and firm procedures, the Marketing Manager is responsible for identifying, managing and implementing appropriate marketing initiatives for the firm’s Texas offices (Dallas/Ft. Worth, Houston, Austin, San Antonio and Longview). The Marketing Manager is expected to serve as a positive role model and mentor, and to perform all responsibilities with a commitment to providing superior service to the firm's attorneys, advisors and staff, efficient and effective departmental operations, and an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Duties are performed throughout every work day, as necessary):
Work with Texas office lawyers, practice groups and firm marketing personnel to identify marketing opportunities; client educational programs; seminar and speaking opportunities; community involvement; public relations; and sponsorship opportunities in the local and regional legal/business communities.
Develop, execute and administer office marketing programs and projects.
Prepare marketing materials for current and prospective clients, including office and practice group descriptions, proposals, RFP responses, PowerPoint presentations, etc.
Coordinate research on identified new business targets, and assist Business Development team in developing tailored strategies, approaches and materials for targeting these potential clients.
Research regional market and national industry trends in order to identify client development opportunities within the local marketplace; work with Business Development team on approach to these opportunities.
Develop and monitor local marketing budget, including, but not limited to maintaining budget files, acting as liaison with the Accounting department, and verifying expenses and invoices.
Plan and support events, conference sponsorships, regional client and alumni entertainment and receptions.
Research regional marketing efforts of local competitors to identify possible opportunities for increasing area profile of the office and attorneys.
Coordinate with the Creative Services team to prepare appropriate community support advertisements, invitations, and other one-off print items.
Gather information from and collaborate with attorneys regarding membership opportunities in local and regional business and/or trade organizations and community and charitable boards, maintain data in attorney board affiliations database, and evaluate succession opportunities. Provide support in connection with charitable contributions, dinners, and other events.
Supervise the Marketing Assistant located in the Houston office.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
Ability to read, write and speak English
Demonstrated knowledge of the Dallas marketplace, as well as an understanding of the Houston, Austin, San Antonio and Longview marketplaces
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; strong work ethic; and poise and professionalism when interacting with internal and external contacts
Ability to prioritize workload, work independently and complete tasks under time pressure when necessary
Strong computer skills including working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite or products; knowledge of InterAction and Tikit preferred
Flexibility and creativity to respond productively to individualized needs of attorneys, work well with the attorneys and staff, and react to difficult situations appropriately
Ability to work extended hours as necessary to fulfill responsibilities

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS/JOB EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree preferably in a marketing-related field. Advanced degree, JD or MBA a plus
At least five years of experience in law firm marketing
