Successful candidate will obtain, process, analyze, organize and present data from various sources including pre-existing company reports and public postings of Class I and other short line railroads as well as be a key team member in the development and construction of the marketing data for the companys Annual Operating Plan. Frequent immediate response is required to respond to requests for data and analysis.
Key contact and data organizer for companys Annual Operating Plan (AOP) marketing information. Includes retrieving information from marketing team, organizing, inputting and reviewing data with marketing team for analysis.
Analyze data in many formats and for many situations at the request of Marketing Managers, Marketing Regional VPs, Department Heads, Class I Railroad Shortline Representatives, and others as required utilizing the Microsoft Office suite of applications;
Process pre-existing reports for various time periods to support analysis by self and others;
Input Watco company data from pre-existing reports into existing formats provided by others for review and evaluation by Executive Team members;
Provide data input and assist in preparation of presentations to support Marketing Department projects and goals;
Monitor changes to Marketing traffic projections and process changes to multiple locations;
Monitor and process changes to various freight rates and fees including analysis of future revenue impact;
Create proposals and presentations;
Analyze profitability of existing services;
Monitor expenditures and compare to marketing budgets.

Experience developing and delivering data analysis presentations using PC-based electronic mail, word-processing, spreadsheet, database, and graphic software preferred.
Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision while producing accurate, timely results.
Intermediate to advanced experience in using and writing automated macros in the Microsoft Office suite of applications.
The successful candidate should demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
Ability to effectively interpret data, business plans, budgetary information, written business proposals, and respond to questions from internal groups, clients, and customers. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and professional presentations.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as forecasting, benchmarking, probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of complex variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
