Working with internal and external partners, the Marketing Director ( home or Personal care) is responsible for short- and long-term business performance of assigned product categories, in a way that delivers on Seventh Generation’s brand strategy and corporate mission.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES
Creation & Execution of our strategic plan at a business unit level.
Lead annual operating plan development in support of the strategic plan and the business results we have committed to delivering; i.e., creation of vision for how to bring strategy to life within each business (marketing, communication, product and sales plan) aligned with our corporate vision, mission and operating principles. – 5-P’s (price, product, promotion, place & packaging).
Definition of core consumer target.
Definition of our innovation agenda within current categories.
Definition of category (product) positioning
Driving cross functional business solutions to achieve business performance objectives.
Develop consumer category insights need to determine market requirements for existing and future products
Analysis of consumer research, current market conditions (IRI, SPINS, Homescan, etc.) and competitor information
Develop and implement marketing plans and projects for new and existing products and initiatives
Manage the productivity of the marketing plans and projects
Monitor, review and report on all marketing activity and results
Help advance Seventh Generation’s mission by delivering effective products and consumer engagement programs that help people live healthier lives, through improvements in product/packaging sustainability, and also by personally demonstrating our shared values.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
10 years of brand management experience in consumer packaged goods setting. Experience within Natural Products industry a strong plus. Commitment to Natural Products industry and socially responsible business a must.
Demonstrated experience managing the P&L.
Proven ability to understand and consider financial scenarios (e.g. product P&Ls, ROI analyses, etc).
Demonstrated experience in developing broad innovation funnels and leading teams through stage gate processes towards successful launches.
Demonstrated knowledge of a broad range of traditional and non-traditional consumer marketing techniques/vehicles (e.g., advertising, online marketing, community marketing, etc).
Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams in evolving settings / situations. (e.g. growth businesses or transitioning structures)
Experience working within syndicated data and interpreting results to drive decision-making – IRI or Neilsen, Spins, and customer-specific databases.
Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills
Team player with “can do” attitude.
Desire to own decisions and take responsibility for outcomes.
Mature individual with capacity for rapid change and degree of ambiguity.
Desire to work in small, entrepreneurial environment and for a socially responsible business.
Willingness to travel when required.
