The Marketing Manager – Social Media and WOM will be responsible for developing and supervising the implementation of leading-edge social media and word of mouth reputation strategies. He/she will oversee an internal team of social media marketers, plus direct the efforts of external agency partners and freelancers, to develop and measure engagement initiatives that tie to relevant business goals.
  • Provide strategic leadership and professional development for team of social media managers managing CTU’s social presence and developing engagement experiences
  • Define the social media and word of mouth reputation strategy and gain approvals to develop winning marketing programs that activate advocates and encourage consideration of CTU
  • Monitor evolving market conditions, target audience preferences, emerging technologies, social media metrics and relevant digital trends to enhance social capabilities and ensure compliance
  • Leverage social listening to gain market insights, identify and respond to student issues, enhance CTU performance, drive operational improvements and increase knowledge within CTU
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with social influencers across categories and interests
  • Develop and grow partnerships with other media companies, creative agencies, social media thought leaders to help scale a relevant social footprint
  • Serve as subject matter expert and social media evangelist to internal stakeholders, providing strategic social media expertise to integrate WOM best practices in student-facing processes
  • Drive social engagement and integration strategy across online university communities, maximizing inherent differences while presenting an integrated, relevant experience for users
  • Provide strategic leadership on use of social programs, budget, and resources within marketing
  • Oversee the development and distribution of social content across owned and earned social channels (e.g. posts, tweets, status updates, pins, photos, etc.)
  • Own CTU presence across social channels, including sites like Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc. Ensure alignment with marketing channels and academic/curriculum groups
  • Produce monthly social media report to drive awareness of social media/WOM initiatives and communicate successes to senior leadership team
  • Analyze and make recommendations on emerging social media and digital trends, tools, applications and channels and their potential impact on the university brand and reputation
  • Work with PR/WOM agency to train designated representatives on social media best practices, trends and new technologies so they can best represent CTU within their verticals
  • Other marketing and communication projects as needed

Required Skills
  • Proven ability to create high-level social marketing plans and leverage WOM across platforms
  • Proven ability to integrate social marketing into overall marketing strategy
  • Deep knowledge of all aspects of the social space for both business-to-consumer and business-to-business: platforms, vendors, measurement, content creation, media, technology, experience
  • A solid understanding of advertising, marketing, and strategic brand management
  • Demonstrated ability to lead team in a highly collaborative environment to develop and execute social marketing strategies for different audiences, buying stage, and verticals
  • Very high attention to detail with drive for continuous improvement
  • Strategic-minded, yet willing to execute tactical workload; ability to work effectively in teams
  • Creativity and strong interpersonal skills; wide vocabulary and well-honed grammatical skills
  • Passion for and experience with managing social media presences, personal or professional, and an interest in latest digital, mobile and social trends
  • Must be comfortable presenting and communicating to all levels of management, and have ability to work with and coordinate feedback from internal and external cross functional teams
  • Analytical skills – comfortable working with, interpreting and presenting data
  • High energy level and enthusiasm for social; ability to thrive in a dynamic environment
  • History of working in fast-paced environment, delivering multiple complex projects on schedule
  • Confidence to take the lead when work collaboratively with other teams across the organization
  • Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written and verbal format
  • Strong technical understanding and ability to master unfamiliar tools quickly
  • Ability to work well under pressure and take initiative with limited direction when necessary
Proficiency in desktop software like Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe; HTML and basic web commands; measurement / monitoring tools like Google Analytics and Radian6

Required Experience
  • 5+ years’ experience in corporate social media and PR/WOM reputation strategy and execution
  • MBA, or Master’s level marketing, communications or business degree
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of online community platforms and influencer outreach
  • Integrated marketing and corporate communications experience
  • Externally demonstrated subject matter expertise
  • Experience leading social activities within a regulated industry (e.g. insurance, finance, healthcare)
