$26.95 - $32.77/hour

Associate Social Worker (CST: Clinical Social Worker Associate)
$26.46 - $32.16/hour

The County of Sonoma Department of Health Services is seeking registered professionals to fill multiple current and anticipated Full-Time and Part-Time vacancies in the Behavioral Health Division. These vacancies can be filled at either the Marriage Family Therapist Intern (MFTI) or Associate Social Worker (ASW) level. This employment list may be used to fill future Full-Time, Part-Time, or Extra-Help (temporary) vacancies as they occur during the active status of the list.

The MFTIs and ASWs provide mental health interventions to adults, families, children, and youth. This may include individual and group recovery oriented counseling, case management, crisis intervention and other related duties within the scope of practice for this job class. This opportunity may be in an adult outpatient program, an intake team, a team focused on a specific geographic region, a youth and family outpatient program, community based teams, psychiatric emergency services or jail mental health. The MFTI/ASW will practice under the supervision of a Program Manager and have the opportunity to receive additional training in diagnosing and treating adults, children, and their families. Employees in these job classes are expected to acquire sufficient knowledge and ability to pass the licensing examination. Failure to pass the licensing exams (or loss of State registration) at the end of the probationary period would result in termination or demotion to an unlicensed position, if a vacancy exists and the employee meets the minimum requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:
Marriage, Family Therapist Intern :
Education : Possession of Master's degree in counseling, psychology or related fields.

Experience : None

Licenses : Valid registration as a Marriage, Family Therapist Intern issued by the State of California. Possession of a valid driver's license at the appropriate level including necessary endorsements, as required by the State of California, may be required to perform the essential job functions of the position.

Associate Social Worker :
Education : Master's degree in Social Work.

Experience : None.

Licenses : Possession of a valid certificate as a registered Clinical Social Worker Intern issued by the State of California. Possession of a valid driver's license at the appropriate level including necessary endorsements, as required by the State of California, may be required to perform the essential job functions of the position.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Marriage, Family Therapist Intern :
Knowledge Of : principles and techniques of individual, family, child and group counseling; social aspects, characteristics, treatment, and management of mentally and emotionally disturbed individuals and their families; the needs, problems and attitudes of mentally disturbed, socially, or economically disadvantaged people and minorities; the scope and activities of public and private health and welfare agencies; the principles of community mental health; the principles of crisis intervention, child sexual abuse treatment, forensic services and school services; client's legal rights.

Ability To : develop and maintain the confidence and cooperation of mentally and emotionally disturbed clients to secure pertinent information and to effectively deliver mental health services; establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, clients and their families, supervisors, ancillary staff, social agencies, and others who have an interest in mental health issues; supervise individual and group behavior and provide necessary support; analyze situations accurately and take effective action; prepare, clear, concise and comprehensive clinical records, to analyze such information and to reach sound decisions on the basis of such information.

Associate Social Worker :
Knowledge Of : individual, group and family psychodynamics; psychological diagnostic methods and terminology; personality development from infancy through adulthood; current principles and practices of psychiatric case work; the human and health services systems in the community including private agencies and other community resources; various methods used in individual and group therapies such as role playing, play, art and milieu; clients' legal rights.

The selection procedure will consist of the following examination:

An Application & Supplemental Questionnaire Appraisal Examination (weight 100%) will be conducted to evaluate each applicant's application and supplemental questionnaire for satisfaction of minimum qualifications (pass/not pass), and for educational coursework, training, experience, knowledge, and abilities which relate to this position. Each applicant will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

Relevance of work history, related experience, and achieved level of education and/or training as described in the application and responses to the supplemental questions.
Candidates demonstrating possession of the minimum qualifications will be placed on an employment list in order of most qualified to least qualified based on the achieved score received in the Application & Supplemental Questionnaire Appraisal Examination . Scores may be adjusted based on such factors as number of candidates, anticipated vacancies, past practice, and natural breaks in the scores achieved by this group of candidates.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

A background investigation is required prior to employment. Candidates referred to departments for a selection interview are typically required to sign authorization and release forms enabling such an investigation.
