Flight Deck Non-skid QA Subject Matter Expert (Job Number: 318471)
SAIC has a contingent opening for a Master Tradesperson – Flight Deck Non-skid QA Subject Matter Expert with practical U.S. Navy ship maintenance experience in Norfolk, VA.
- Must have shipboard experience, and hold NACE/NAVSEA Basic Paint Inspector (NBPI) certification.
- Must be knowledgeable with Society for Protective Coatings (SSPC) QP-1 certification.
- Must be knowledgeable and experienced with NAVSEA Standard Item 009-32 (Cleaning and Painting Requirements), and other related U.S. Navy specifications.
- Must be knowledgeable with U.S. Navy maintenance procedures and the Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM).
- Must be experienced in oversight and certification of work on Critical Coated Non-Skid Surfaces on U.S. Navy ships, in particular, flight deck applications.
- Must be knowledgeable and experienced with U.S. Navy Quality Assurance (QA) requirements and procedures.
-Supervises and manages one or more multiple jobs.
-Applies comprehensive understanding of production and processes toward completion of assignments.
-Reads and interprets blueprints, technical manuals and other applicable technical documentation for job completion.
-Responsible for interfacing with customers, managing subcontractors and ability to provide work direction to others.
-Performs a variety of complicated and non-routine tasks.
-Develops and uses technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports.
-Schedules, reports and briefs customers and senior management.
-Performs duties outside of specialty in order to complete installation or work assignment.
-MS/BS Mechanical or Materials Engineering plus 6 years experience, or Trade School plus 10 years experience, or High School plus 15 years of related experience.
-Must be able to work in shipboard environment including lifting, carrying and transporting heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs.
-Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions, and in confined spaces.
-Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions including working aloft or over the sides of vessels.
-May ride ships at sea for extended periods.
-May require wearing a respirator.
-Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
