The Material Handler will analyze documentation and paperwork in the course of receiving, issuing, or packaging materials in support for the build of intelligence, surveillance, and imagery processing high performance data link systems and products for L-3 Communications - the sixth largest defense contractor in the United States.
The Material Handler performs receiving, shipping, and stores functions while interacting with various departments in L-3 Communications.
Strong communication skills to effectively interface with other departments and management
Work from oral & written instructions with proficient compute skills related to a computerized inventory system, and Windows based programs.
Capable to use problem-solving skills related to basic problems that effect inventory status in shipping and receiving
Knowledge of packaging procedures, materials, and inventory used in packaging and/or handling of finished goods.
Ability to use good judgment in making decisions related to priority, packaging and material handling.
Due to the nature of our work this position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense clearance (including COMSEC).
Position requires the ability to lift 50 lbs on a continuous basis
Able to safely operate hand carts, pallet jacks, and fork lifts
This position may require overtime, weekend, holiday and/or second shift work
Qualifications
This position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and 0-2 yrs of experience in stores, shipping, or receiving. Ability to perform in and contribute to a team environment with good inter-personal skills is necessary. Dependability is critical.
Willing to work overtime, afternoons, and or shift work when necessary. Basic expediting inventory control experience is preferred. Must be able to pull parts from inventory. Able to lift 30 lbs, have basic computer skills, and a team player.
Due to the nature of our work qualified candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
This position may be filled at a higher grade based on the successful applicant's skills, education and experience.
