Temporary 1st Shift position (approximately 6 months)

As part of the Logistics department, the Material Handler will perform various tasks including stock, inventory, parts picking, cycle counting, packaging, shipping and receiving. Our expectation is that each team member will exhibit flexibility and adaptability to be able to perform the following duties and assignments:
  • Process incoming and outgoing shipping transactions utilizing enterprise business system.
  • Posting receipts, and material transfers to warehouse, sales orders or networks
  • Processes and tracks inventory transfers, vendor or quality returns in a timely and accurate fashion according to Gleason procedures.
  • Unpacking, packing and sorting materials as per departmental work instructions
  • Be a positive contributor to a growing team in an environment where customer service and quality are the rule.
  • Receive vendor and internal shipments according to Gleason policy and procedure
  • Provides warehouse support, stocking or inventory functions as required
  • Follows loss prevention and safety procedures as directed
  • Assumes responsibility for other functions as requested such as recycling, trash removal or simple maintenance tasks
  • Ability to safely operate power material handling equipment as necessary
  • Basic computer skills which include the ability to create and save text documents and to create and send emails
  • Previous experience in a warehouse, retail or shipping/receiving environment (preferred)
  • Detail-orientation in performing accurate transactions
  • Adherence to Gleason policies and procedures
  • Self motivated and multi-tasks with minimal supervision
  • Proactively meets both internal and external customer needs.
  • Effective work methods and consistently meets commitments
  • Uses sound judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Effective communication skills-- clear, concise and positive.
  • Loading and unloading tractor trailers with manual pallet jacks, electric power jacks or fork trucks (attain certification where required)
  • Organize material in warehouse racks using inventory system
  • Adhere to prescribed rust prevention and protection standards
  • Physical inventory and cycle counts of warehouse materials
  • Actively participate in ongoing 5S Program
  • Monitor equipment inventories (flagging inventory discrepancies, correcting, and communicating activity to the group) and current order status
  • Display a strong sense of urgency in researching, tracking and correcting problems in a timely and cost effective manner.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned
