The Materials Planner supports the daily production operations by securing an optimum supply of material required for manufacturing to meet daily customer demand. The primary job responsibilities are to utilize and monitor material planning procedures with minimal inventory investment. These procedures involve direct contact with outside suppliers, transportation carriers, Customer Service, Engineering, Marketing, and Operation staffs to meet/exceed current and projected customer requirements.

This position will be based out of Gilbarco Veeder-Root’s (the “Company”) corporate headquarters in Greensboro, NC; supporting the global operations function of Gilbarco, North America.

II. Key Responsibilities · Utilize and monitor material planning procedures ensuring consistent quality, delivery, and cost with minimal inventory investment
· Direct contact with outside suppliers, transportation carriers, customer service, and operations staffs to meet/exceed current and projected customer requirements, assuring material availability and optimal inventory levels
· Conduct DMP activities in cells improving parts presentation, kanban execution and material flow
· Forecast monthly material requirements to vendors to ensure material availability, based on historical data and PSI demand
· Identify and manage actual and potential material availability problems
· Root Cause/ Corrective Actions to short term and permanent solutions to material supply issues
· Suggest and implement appropriate procurement method (JIT, Reorder Point, Consignment, Reducing Lead-times, or Scheduled Releases) based on part characteristics, supplier, and demand to optimize material velocity and availability
· Contributes, in the capacity of a team member, individually, or as a reference, to resolving materials quality issues and increasing manufacturing productivity
· Frequently participate in, and lead continuous improvement workshops (kaizens) with team members to improve quality, delivery, and productivity
· Achieve department performance goals (ie. On Time Delivery, Inventory Turns, Inventory Accuracy, Material Flows)
· Assist in cost reduction projects and implementation of new product/engineering changes
· Kanban Management including: creation, maintenance, audits, and presentation
Ideal candidates will have: · A Bachelor’s degree (required); candidates with concentrations in supply chain, business logistics or operations management , preferred
· At least 5 years’ of relevant and progressive supply chain experience and at least 3 years’ experience in manufacturing operations
· At least 2 years of project management, analytical, strategic, problem solving experience; displaying an ability to work effectively within complex decision-making and organizational structures
· Knowledge of a variety of operational excellence competencies including yet not limited to: Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma, Toyota Production System Tools: Visual Management, Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, Policy Deployment, One-piece Flow, 6S, Kaizen, SMED, Kanban, Poke Yoke, Target Costing, Six Sigma and TPM
· Strong leadership and teaming capabilities with the ability to operate independently, affect change across functions, and have a track record of delivered results
· Exceptional negotiation, written and verbal communication/presentation skills
· Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects/work streams simultaneously
· Demonstrated experience implementing cycle count programs and corrective action processes and knowledge of various manufacturing process technologies
· Experience working independently in a highly decentralized yet matrixed, process oriented, and hands-on organization with the ability to resourcefully innovate and adapt in a rapidly changing, fast paced and highly complex environment
· Strong written/oral communication, effective presentation, and facilitation, team, and leadership development, conflict resolution, and influence skill
· Highly effective project management skills with a complete understanding of business process and the ability to integrate multiple resources for integrated solutions; execute flawlessly with high attention to detail
· Strong problem solving and ability to assess the needs of the business and design and implement the best solutions
