Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the Rural Development Project (RDP)/Rural Hawaii (RH1) State/Central Office located at the University of Hawaii Maui College in Kahului, Maui. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.


DUTIES: Provides program management of the Rural Hawaii Grant and the Rural Development Project for the island of Maui. Monitors and facilitates the delivery of services and completion of approved programs. Assists in grant management and evaluation. Responsible for communications and public relations to keep the public informed of local and statewide programs and activities. Provides support for contract, fiscal, and office administration.

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university. EXPERIENCE: Three to five (3-5) years of professional work experience in any of the following fields: project management, business management, education (teaching or administration), social work, or public administration. At least two (2) years of experience in program administration or management within a University, County, State, or Federal agency. Experience must include project development and management, community service, and grant writing. ABIL/KNOW/SKILLS: Knowledge of the principles and practices in developing, implementing, and evaluating projects. Thorough knowledge of University, State, and Federal rules, regulations, practices, policies, and procedures. Ability to develop grant proposals, business plans, or business proposals. Ability to support and implement training and support programs. Ability to supervise professionals, paraprofessionals, and clerical subordinates. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with the general public, administration, faculty, project staff, and University, State, and Federal officials. Must be able to travel to all areas of island via own transportation.

SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS: Coursework in administration and/or training fields. Professional work experience in business administration, training, and communications.
