The Measurement Consulting Services (MCS) Unit of the NBME is currently seeking a Measurement Scientist to join its team. MCS is a group of 15 doctoral and masters-level researchers that is responsible for initiatives supporting both operational programs and Research and Development activities.

DUTIES

Applying psychometric theory to solve practical testing problems.

Developing a comprehensive program of research to support valid interpretation of test scores

Performing analyses to support and to improve practices for test development, test delivery, scoring, and score reporting.

Providing psychometric consultation to evaluate or improve testing practices and procedures.

Communicating analytic results and policy and practice recommendations to internal and external colleagues

Preparing manuscripts for publication in scholarly measurement journals and presentation at professional meetings.

Mentoring technical staff.

QUALIFICATIONS

Doctorate in educational/psychological measurement, statistics, or related field.

Strong background in psychometric theory and application including knowledge of test development, standard setting and equating procedures.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work closely and well with people from a variety of professional backgrounds.

Excellent critical thinking and creative problem solving abilities.
