The Mechanical/Turbine Engineer demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. In this role, you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals. In this role of Mechanical/Turbine Lead Engineer, you will:

Essential Responsibilities
In addition, in this role you will:
  • Develop technical planning and documentation for in-shop Steam Turbine and Mechanical repairs (to include detailed description of activities with sign-offs, QA hold and witness points, data sheets, drawings, specifications, applicable safety risk assessment sheets, job schedules)
  • Manage shop projects
  • Manage hourly union work force
  • Provide technical plan and schedule updates
  • Generate final customer reports
  • Ensure compliance to the technical plans and the Quality Management System
  • Effective assignment and supervision of manpower and equipment for in-shop repairs so as to meet EHS, quality, schedule, and cost requirements
  • Ensure Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) program compliance
  • Be responsible for the regular coordination of activities with other departments to insure smooth operation and flow of the Service Center's activities
  • Develop and engage in frequent verbal and written communications with customers, sales, engineering, Power Services, and other Service Centers
  • Provide timely updates to COMPAS/SAP order management system
  • Assist Service Center Manager with various forecasts and reports

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university (or a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in logistics, maintenance, or systems engineering)
  • Minimum of 3 additional years of professional work experience

  • Professional Engineer's License
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certified (GE employees only)
  • Experience with developing instructions and leading an hourly union workforce
  • Experience with machine shop or service center
  • Advanced technical knowledge of steam turbine repairs
  • Ability to interpret drawings and specifications
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to communicate with and earn and maintain the respect of our customers
  • Demonstrated self-starter and change agent
  • Skilled in MS Suite, including Outlook and Schedule, and TOPS (GE Systems)
