Mechanical Designer

Requisition Number P2163

Location Phillips Medical - Menomonie, WI

Responsibilities

Design and build end-of arm tools (EOAT’s), degating equipment, inspection fixtures, and other fixtures and tools

Support project and manufacturing engineers with mechanical design needs

Utilize solid modeling software for CAD/CAM operations

Evaluate parts for manufacturability and make suggestions for improvement

Prepare CAD files for mold design and repair

Provide support to the mold technicians and production support technicians on the proper use and set up of secondary fixtures

Actively participate in continual improvement, corrective action, and customer satisfaction

Participate in redline and mold design meetings to support the design of part removal systems and other associated processes

Continuously improve equipment and automation to reduce labor, reduce cycle time, reduce waste, and increase efficiencies

Maintain skill levels necessary to support new technologies to improve our production processes

Coordinate jobs with engineers and technicians

Assist in file conversion

Qualifications - Education & Experience

Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in mechanical design or related program

Minimum three (3) years related experience

Experience interfacing automation and robotics with various types of equipment

Experience with machining fabrication of EOAT’s and other jigs and fixtures

Experience with Solid Works, Pro-E, Auto Cad or other CAD software

Experience in plastic molding preferred

Qualifications - Skills & Competencies

PC – Microsoft Windows software, solid modeling software, and other office equipment

Strong computer skills

Creativity and ability to conceptualize

Ability to design for manufacturability

Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
