Mechanical Designer needed to support electromechanical product development and manufacturing. Will provide design and drafting support to product development engineers, including Pro/E modeling, component and assembly drawings for new product design, and modification to existing products, and related test equipment. Will support design testing and prototype builds. Surfacing experience is a plus. Will work with vendors on tooling and part quotes, model submission, management of tool and sample schedule and part approval, and generates design and part change submissions (ECO, temporary deviations).

Requires 4 to 7+ years of design experience in high volume production products with stamped and injection molded components, and strong Pro/E Wildfire skills. Requires knowledge of tolerance analysis and strength of materials. Experience in electronic PCB and high volume electronic assembly knowledge as it relates to mechanical product design is a plus. Must have excellent communication skills, and ability to work in fast paced development environment. Typical duties include:
Provides input to Program Management and Engineering Technical Lead on project performance against established milestones. Works on project from concept through production manufacturing. Works with lead engineer and manufacturing engineering to ensure the manufacturability of the product and takes ownership of any design challenges brought forward during proto, pilot and full production stages of project. Prepares drawings for manufacturing. Coordinates and actively participates in all activities associated to prototype builds and proto part procurement. Provides input and support to production fixture design and procurement. Coordinates tooling quotes and part approval with tooling vendors. Closely monitors and participates in proto builds and pre-production runs to ensure that the final assembly is correct and in accordance with the documented product design. Participates in the redesign of existing products in an effort to reduce components or manufacturing costs, improve performance or enhance capabilities of products as assigned. Makes recommendations to engineering regarding product design as it relates to tooling or manufacturability.
