Alion Science and Technology is seeking a Finite Element Analysis (FEA) Mechanical Engineer to support high quality engineering, scientific, and technical support services under contract to current government customers located in Warner Robins, G|
The successful candidate shall be responsible for:
Creating finite element analysis (FEA) models of aircraft structure and evaluating/analyzing dent/delamination effects as well as the documentation of results of analysis.
Performing root-cause and tear-down analysis to identify technical needs that solve high profile maintenance and sustainment issues for Air Force structures.
Determining and proposing life extension solutions to aging structures via repair, replace or engineering change options.
Assess and document modeling processes
Create production level technical data packages
Performs engineering work in analysis, design, development, evaluation, planning, testing and operation in support of development of mechanical products. .
Duties often include the collection of information and data, performance of various tests, and engineering computations, measurements and analyses.
Has independent interaction with customers and provides input to project managers on programmatic and technical deliverables.
Complies with applicable quality and security procedures in the performance of duties. Provides recommendations for improvements to existing quality systems and applicable company procedures and guidelines.
BS or MS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering plus 5 years of relevant work experience.
In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 7 years of applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted based on education, or highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Effective communication, presentation and interpersonal skills as well as organizational skills are required.
The ability to create clear and concise technical reports is imperative.
Experience with Microsoft Office suite programs, Pro-E, and SolidWorks or an equivalent 3D modeling program that includes knowledge of sophisticated Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software.
Knowledgeable on aircraft structures is recommended but not required.
Ability to read and interpret aircraft structural drawings.
US Citizenship and a current DoD clearance or the ability to obtain a clearance is required.
