Detailed tasks include:
Plan, organize, and execute technical work concerning new or existing automotive electronic systems, modules and/or processes.
Interpret, organize, execute and coordinate projects and activities relating to product and process development with responsibility to implement several projects simultaneously.
Provide a technical base and general leadership for Advanced Engineering Development projects including testing and verification of concepts.
Assume responsibility as the functional owner of a product/feature.
Lead the packaging and mechanical development such as performing component packaging, and bracket design, design analysis & tradeoff studies.
Manage product/feature change requests, product releases, component changes to meet all program objectives and timing.
Support vehicle build activities and support system debug.
Assist with root cause, resolution & verification of system issues & test incidents and report to customer and management.
Support vehicle development activities, rides & subsystem acceptance tests.
Assist/Review/Approve design releases.
Maintain lessons learned database.
Perform and Lead all mechanical design reviews with suppliers.
Ensure component/feature deliverables are met for sample and vehicle builds.
Support assembly plant for builds and launch as required.
Initiate and monitor progress of requirements changes.
Required / Desired skills:
Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Candidate must have 5 plus years of experience in the position offered.
Experience must include electronic modules packaging and mechanical component design from initiation to launch. Demonstrated knowledge regarding SPC, DoE, FMEA, and material and product performance testing (i.e., tensile strength, flexural strength, melt flow).
Demonstrated good interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills in order to communicate with internal and external contacts and work in a team environment.
Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, coordinate, integrate and articulate concepts, ideas, and concerns relating to interpersonal, organizational, and technical issues.
High degree of comprehension and judgment for effective problem solving.
Self-starter with the ability to manage one’s own time appropriately.
Excellent communication and inter personal skills required.
This person must work well with other engineers in a team environment.
Good understanding of all engineering disciplines.
Experience with Fields of View and/or optics is preferred.
