Our client has expertise in dynamics and stress in machinery, process equipment, structures, and fluid systems. These consultants and test specialists use high-end experimental and computational tools to provide problem-solving in plants, facility and process upgrade, performance and reliability improvement, and end-use product development.
An integral part of this is the Advanced Engineering Measurements (AEM) Laboratory, which supports the many engineering programs as well as broader corporate needs for plant diagnostics and laboratory testing.
The current need is for a high-level technical professional for dynamics and test diagnostics in plants
This requires an MS or PhD in ME or equivalent with expertise in high-speed data acquisition and digital signal processing. Important academic strengths include vibrations, dynamics, controls, mechanical design, stress and fatigue. A demonstrated ability to design and perform large-scale diagnostic testing, analyze complex data, and integrate with models to engineer solutions is also required. Travel to plant sites, both US and international, is often necessary.
In addition, the successful candidate must have strong leadership and interpersonal skills, and be effective in analytical thinking, report-writing, and oral communication.
The following skills are also desirable, though some may be learned on the job.
- Experimental Modal and ODS vibration testing and analysis
- Broad knowledge of instrumentation hardware such as vibration and other sensors, signal conditioning, and spectrum analyzers
- Fundamental understanding of electricity and electronics
- Rotor dynamics
- Film and web systems
- Plane-wave (1D) fluid dynamics in piping (pulsation and water-hammer)
