HighRes Biosolutions develops innovative automation solutions used by biotech companies and academic research laboratories. We seek interns to help develop reliable, cost-effective mechanical designs of novel robotics and laboratory devices. We offer a focused collaborative environment where an intern has opportunities to make substantial contributions from initial development through production. Job responsibilities will depend on the background of the applicant, but duties may include: - Help design custom robotic systems to meet customer requirements under guidance of engineering and sales team - Assist in development of as built engineering documents for new and existing products, including physical schematics and manufacturing documentation - Organize Bill-of-Materials (BOMs) - Assist in developing specifications, test plans, and other design/build documentation - Participate in design reviews - Develop and manage timelines and budgets for product development - Interface with customers and other engineers for requirements, testing and training EXAMPLE OF POSSIBLE WORK RESPONSIBLITIES: CAD Design Work: Update and proofread all legacy drawings post EPDM migration.

Update " detail drawings to current CAD standards. Build CAD library of all electrical wiring components and build wiring harnesses documentation for legacy devices. Edit all legacy devices and explore shared parts. Update the assemblies accordingly.

Sample Vault Prototype Work Build sub-assemblies for use in the Sample Vault. Assist with the testing of possible solutions. Heavy hands on experience would be needed, and ability to use machine shop equipment preferred. Qualifications: For this position, we generally seek interns working toward a mechanical engineering or related degree, but all applicants will be considered.

We also desire: - Basic mechanical assembly and fabrication skills - Basic familiarity with SolidWorks - Strong problem solving skills, the ability to overcome unforeseen challenges quickly and effectively - High attention to detail - Effectiveness as a team member and individually - Excellent communication skills OTHER REQUIREMENTS:  students must be attending a Mass college OR reside in Mass;  undergraduate students must be completing at least their sophomore year this semester (Freshman ineligible);  graduate students must be pursuing a Master ’s degree (PhD students ineligible);  recent graduates must have graduated in 2012; and  community college students must have completed at least one year or a certificate
