In this role, you will be responsible for the design of Mechanical Equipment for ESBWR, and specifically for the North Anna 3 project. The Mechanical Equipment Design / Analysis Engineer will perform design and analysis tasks for reactor equipment where the design authority is within GEH responsibility. This equipment includes the reactor internals in the B11 RPV system, and the Fine Motion Control Rod Drives (FMCRD) and hydraulic control units (HCU) in the C12 CRD system.
In addition, you will:
Perform activities related to analyses, calculations and technical evaluations required for equipment design development such as loading and structural calculations, equipment design and procurement requirements, vendor follow-up, and site support
Be responsible for equipment requirement specifications and drawings, and evaluation & assistance in selection of vendors
Support vendor manufacturing (respond to questions / requests, review submittals, witness tests)
Incorporate mechanical design requirements into design and analyses documents
Provide the detailed equipment drawings and specifications, and interface with other discipline skills such as welding, materials, non-destructive testing, and process controls to fully define the design requirements for equipment where the detail design is provided by GEH
Be responsible for design and analysis of ASME equipment
Generate and maintain equipment design and procurement and installation technical documentation
Interface with internal and external customers, suppliers, partners, the NRC and international regulatory authorities on technical issues
Work within a team environment to execute work plans within budget and schedule
Perform work in compliance with policies and procedures
Implement work plans in accordance with the overall GEH Regulatory and Procedure Excellence, and ESBWR Engineering Design Process
Support GEH quality requirements, including participation in design reviews, initiating and responding to Corrective Actions
Provide on-time, quality delivery of equipment packages and engineering documentation in accordance with contract requirements, business procedures, and regulatory agency guidelines
Support commercial and marketing opportunities for New Plants
Support Company initiatives: Six Sigma, process improvement, and New Product Introduction
Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science
Minimum of 2 years of experience in Boiling Water Reactor (BWR), PWR business and/or equivalent technical environment
Minimum of 2 years utilizing working knowledge of ASME & Industry codes, standards & regulations related to nuclear power plant design

Master’s Degree of Science in Engineering discipline
Knowledge and experience with Auto Cad Inventor software
Proven ability to think strategically, be creative and move quickly
Quick learner, able to sort through information and make timely and sound decisions
Open communication style and proven ability to develop team relationships
Knowledge of GEH ESBWR and ABWR Certified Designs
Experience with GE documentation system, practices and requirements (GE Employees only)
Demonstrated high energy and the ability to energize others

Team player with strong leadership capabilities
Self-starter with a positive, can-do attitude
Clearly and confidently communicates based on deep understanding
Proven record of delivering on commitments

ANSYS computer analysis program experience
