To provide access to information resources in various formats that will support teaching, research and the public service mission of the Library and the University.
Monitors use of media resources and equipment by maintaining statistics on use. Assist patrons in locating and retrieving media resources in the Media Center and assist patron in prepare multimedia projects.
Assist patrons in locating and retrieving media resources in the Media Center. Train student workers. Provide students, and faculty assistance with the use of audio-visual and other multimedia materials and the microform collection. Check in microform materials. Maintain the microform collection. Maintains daily statistics on the usage of media resources and equipment.
Assist patrons with editing audio and visual projects. Maintains the media center equipment.
Ensure proper use of various software applications and new instructional technologies such as; camcorders, iPads, iPods, video and audio editing equipment, laptop, PC and Mac applications and hardware and Web 2.0 tools that support teaching and learning. Maintain current knowledge of new emerging technologies.
Plan, coordinate, and conduct special topic workshops in the use of technologies; install, configure, and maintain software and as well as troubleshoot problems with specialized microcomputers, peripheral equipment and software used for Instructional Technology purposes; assist with subject matter expert in multimedia technology. Research and recommend multimedia systems and equipment for learning spaces. Perform regular training/assessments and collaborate with students, faculty and college staff personnel to provide appropriate teaching and learning experiences. Conduct training sessions with students in order to enhance student technology skills.
Assists users in Circulation/Reserve Department. Charge circulating and reserve materials to users. Collect fines and fees. Issue users Virginia Tidewater Consortium (VTC) Cards. Assist users with photocopiers and the book scanner. Answer circulation/reserve desk telephone.
Interpret user and owner manuals in lay person's terms; and identify advantages and limitations of using various technologies for instructional and other purposes. Prepares brochures and self-help documents. Prepares formal and informal presentations for library departments.
This position is grant funded.

Ability to supervise student workers Good oral and written communication skills Basic knowledge of multimedia equipment, new technologies, computers, and computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, E-mail, and software compatible with multimedia equipment.
Working knowledge of library automated systems
Ability to bend, reach, and stoop.
Bachelor Degree with strong instructional technology background.
A criminal background check is required.
