The function of this position is to assist physicians in the treatment of patients.
The duties described herein are minimum standards and may be modified to meet the changing needs of MedWest Health System at any time.

QUALIFICATIONS (Required or Preferred)
The following qualifications are the minimum requirements necessary to adequately perform this job. However, any equivalent combination of experience, education and training which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities would be acceptable, subject to any legal and/or regulatory requirements.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent strongly desired. Certified Nursing Assistants, Certified Medical Assistants, Licensed Practical Nurses or Registered Nurses will be considered for this position. Will consider individuals with an equivalent combination of education and experience. License/certification is not required for this position.
Work experience: Prefer two years experience working as a medical assistant in a physician’s office.
Knowledge, skills and abilities required: Must have the ability to work independently, have strong oral skills, good basic math skills and be computer literate.

Extended periods of walking, standing, bending and stooping may be required. . Ability to hear clearly and have visual acuity necessary for computer use. Ability to do repetitive work, keyboarding and writing. Ability to lift 25 pounds.

MedWest Health System shall endeavor to make starting and quitting times as desirable and convenient as possible; however, the workload shall be the determining factors. Overtime should be expected.

This position reports to the practice Clinical Coordinator and/or Office Coordinator.
