The Medical Assistant performs patient care and clerical duties that assist in the delivery of health care. Receives work direction and/or delegated work assignments from physicians, Office Manager, or nurses. Maintains confidentiality at all times. Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
Performs selected clinical duties and assists MDs/Providers in providing patient care. (30%)
Communicates well with patients, physicians, staff, and other customers. (30%)
Accurately maintains medical record documentation, and retrieves and files medical records. (20%)
Performs front end registration and billing functions. (10%)
Performs phlebotomy and lab functions accurately and timely. (10%)
Education: Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: CPR Certification
1 year medical office or related health care experience preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance theory, and ICD-9 and CPT coding preferred.
Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, color vision, vision acquity, hearing, moving/lifting up to 40 pounds.
