A certified/non-certified healthcare provider employed by Erlanger Health System is responsible for direct and/or indirect care of patients under the direction of an RN, LPN, physician, nurse practitioner or physician assistant.
High School diploma or equivalent.
Graduate from an accredited or governed Medical Assistant program or must have passed Medical Assistant Certification.
NOTE: During an acquisition, the organization's medical assistant employees must have two years of on the job training, if not a graduate of a formal program or passed Medical Assistant Certification and the employee must pass Erlanger's medical assistant competency assessment exam.
Position Requirement(s): License/Certification/Registration; BLS required within 30 days of hire.

Department Position Summary:
The employee must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in physician practice. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. The individual must be able to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs. The individual must be able to provide the care needed as described in the unit's policies and procedures. This is done through evaluation of direct supervisor by direct observation, or discussed verbally or written.
