The incumbent will: Assist the physician during office procedures and physical examinations, maintain patient histories and record pertinent patient information in the medical records. The medical assistant is responsible for a combination of strong organizational and communication skills with patients, family members, physicians, health center personnel and co-workers. The medical assistant will answer and return telephone calls as well as support the front desk as needed. Will provides "excellent" patient care while performing all duties.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Graduate from a medical assisting program or comparable education and training (such as phlebotomy course, microbiology course). Five or more years of clinical experience as a medical assistant in a physicians office will be considered in lieu of medical assistant certificate. Necessary clinical skills include: Taking vital signs, giving injections, in-office patient testing, autoclaving and sterile technique .
Required Length and Type of Experience:
One to two years experience working as a medical assistant following graduation of a medical assistant program.
Five or more years of experience working as a medical assistant in lieu of formal training.
A new medical assistant graduate may be considered in some instances.
Required Licensure, Certification or Registry:
Completion of a medical assistant program/or as noted above.
