Esperanza College is a fully accredited, two-year, Associate's degree-awarding institution, and a branch campus of Eastern University. It is operated by Esperanza, a faith-based nonprofit organization. Located in the economically disadvantaged neighborhood of Hunting Park, Philadelphia, Esperanza College exists to provide high quality post-secondary education to communities that typically lack access to higher education.

We are currently seeking a well-qualified Director to develop and implement our new Medical Assisting concentration. The Medical Assisting Director will oversee the development, administration, and ongoing evaluation of the Medical Assisting Associate Degree program. This includes establishing academic curricula, managing adjunct faculty and instructors, overseeing student enrollment and retention with the support of Esperanza College's Outreach and Enrollment Department), and managing other program components such as internship placement and connecting students to job opportunities upon graduation. Director may also spend some time teaching students in the program.


The successful applicant will have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and, preferably, a minimum of two years of teaching experience at the post-secondary level. Understanding of instructional methods and educational theory, and being in touch with techniques and methods to reach out to non-traditional college-level students, is highly preferred. Bilingual preferred but not required.

Medical Assisting Certification by an agency approved by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA), while not immediately required for applicant, will need to be obtained after successful application.

The successful applicant will also have at least three years of prior healthcare-related work experience, including at least 40 hours of experience in an ambulatory/outpatient healthcare setting performing or observing administrative and clinical procedures performed by a Medical Assistant.
