Responsibilities

Coder is responsible for reporting accurate and compliant ICD/9CM and CPT codes for SCCA’s facility fees. This includes tracking, reporting and training regarding documentation. The position is 35% remote and 65% on-site coding.

Qualifications

Required:
a. Prior ICD-9, CPT, HCPC, abstracting coding experience in an outpatient or hospital setting
b. CPC, CPC-H, CCS, CCS-P, RHIT
c. Modifiers
d. Working knowledge of insurance plans, LCD/NCD’s
e. Prior experience working with clinical professionals
f. Medical records knowledge
g. Medical terminology, Anatomy and Physiology

Preferred:
a. Bachelor’s degree
b. CPC, CPC-H, CCS, CCS-P, RHIT
c. Prior oncology or Transplant coding
d. Prior training experience with clinicians
e. E & M, Surgical and Infusion coding
f. Prior transplant coding
g. EPIC HB, ORCA and mindscape experience

Coding Knowledge:
a. Understands and applies correct coding guidelines
b. Understands and applies regulatory and compliance guidelines
c. Understands and applies APCs
d. Understands and applies ICD-9, CPT, E&M, procedure codes and modifiers
e. Understands and applies documentation guidelines

Quality & Quantity of Work:
a. Maintains 95% coding accuarcy
b. Ability to code 48 HAR accounts per day.

a. Able to meet deadlines/month-end
