Duties of Position :
This business office clerk will have payment posting, contract auditing and collecting responsibilities.

Responsibilities in collections: Ensuring the timely collections of AR from insurance payers including Medicare, Medicaid, Workers Comp, Blue Cross, Blue Shield, HMO, PPO’s, and private pay patients. This position works closely with patients to resolve unpaid balances, addresses their questions/concerns, and submits accounts to outside agencies as appropriate. The collection clerk works closely with the Business Office Manager and biller to reduce and maintain acceptable days in AR. In addition, works all unresolved accounts within time frames specified in our policies and procedures. This position is also responsible for all unresolved accounts including debit and credit balances. Responsibilities in Posting: Maintaining the integrity of the transactions posted in the patient accounting system. Auditing payments received against facility contracts, enter and post debit and credit transactions. Complete daily reconciliation. Loads and updates contracts within accounting system.

Requirements for biller/collector duties : High school graduation or equivalent. 2 years experience in medical office billing, medical terminology, ICD-9 & CPT knowledge, UB& CMS claims processing. Experience in ASC billing preferred and ability to research contracts and calculate approximate fees for patients. 2 years experience with medical collections and medical terminology. Incumbent must have strong in-depth contract comprehension. Review system reports regularly to properly manage all aspects of AR. Individual must have a strong knowledge of basic accounting principles . In addition, must be detailed oriented, in handling multiple centers and posting high volume of deposits. The Business office clerk must have the ability to work within the team & independently, handle multiple tasks, provision computer skills, and data entry skills, file large amounts of paper and use office equipment. In addition, the incumbent must have strong teamwork ethics, and work together to help and support one another ensuring the overall success of multiple centers.
