The Florida Hospital Transplant Center is seeking a preeminent UNOS certified Gastroenterologist to lead the Liver Transplant program. Established in 2007, this highly successful multi-disciplinary practice is owned and operated by Florida Hospital. This dynamic leader with strong clinical skills will be responsible for the oversight of the medical team, program growth, and development of innovative strategies to integrate the surgical and medical services of the Liver Transplant and Hepatology program. Key characteristics candidate must demonstrate include successful leadership track record, proven ability to forge and maintain physician relationships, and a tenacious commitment to preserve the solid reputation of Florida Hospital in the society of transplantation. This new physician will evaluate patients with a spectrum of liver problems including management of primary liver disease, evaluation of metastatic/primary liver cancers and end-stage liver failure requiring liver transplant. Opportunity to participate in clinical research, resident and fellow education, and have an affiliation with University of Central Florida’s College Medicine which opened in 2009.

This opportunity would be based at Florida Hospital Orlando, a large 1100+ bed facility located just north of downtown Orlando. The hospital is home to our general surgery residency, internal medicine residency, as well as 150+ ICU beds.

As part of the Adventist Health System, Florida Hospital is a non-profit, faith-based organization which operates eight campuses under one license in Central Florida. We encompass over 2,200 beds and 2,200 physicians on our medical staff. Over 17,000 employees serve over 110,000 inpatients, 500,000 outpatients, and 375,000 emergency patients annually. Florida Hospital also operates 14 other hospitals in the state. At Florida Hospital Orlando’s Liver Transplant Program, our medical team cares for more than 3,000 patients per year and performed 71 liver transplants in 2012. The team treats patients from ten surrounding counties to Central Florida. Florida Hospital also owns and operates the TransLife Organ Procurement Organization which recovers an average of 100 deceased donor livers annually.

Requirements for this position include fellowship training in gastroenterology, hepatology, completion of an ACGME approved internal medicine residency, and board certification through the ABMS in Internal Medicine/Gastroenterology.

Practice Setting The Florida Hospital Transplant Center is at Florida Hospital Orlando, just outside downtown Orlando. The office site is steps away from the hospital in an adjacent medical office building.

Location Description Practice is located within minutes of beautiful downtown Orlando.

Community Description Greater Orlando is a hub for higher education and is home to numerous colleges and universities including University of Central Florida (UCF), Rollins College, Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences and the new medical school affiliated with UCF.
