The Maitland Office Plaza houses our highly skilled teams that support our hospital system including Marketing, Patient Financial Services, Revenue Management, the Credit Union and Human Resources. The main lobby is filled with lush greenery and a light trickle of water, creating a holistic environment.
On Call need any days between - Monday through Friday 6am - 7pm
The Insurance Specialist - Billing Specialist is responsible for processing incoming and outgoing patient billing based on expanded knowledge and experience. Utilizes the billing process in achieving the goals of the Billing Department. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Adheres to the Florida Hospital Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies and accreditting bodies.
Knowledge, Skills, Education and Experience Required:
Adaptive to the Healthcare Industry’s dynamic environment. Uses discretion when handling personnel/patient issues that are confidential in nature.
Types 35 or more words per minute depending on specific job requirements.
Proficient in basic math, verbal, and written skills.
Communicates professionally with an acceptable use of the English language.
Accepts the responsibility of serving as a Family Health Center liaison between patients and their insurance companies. Works well with others of varying backgrounds.
Computer skills to include Host, EPIC, Microsoft Office, and Internet (preferred)
High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)

Performs properly and in a timely manner the procedures outlined in the billing guidelines. Adheres to all billing and coding regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Ensures and maintains confidentiality in relation to meeting HIPAA guidelines.
Analyzes accounts to ensure their accuracy. Performs any necessary functions to bring account balances to zero.
Handles telephone calls and other inquiries in a timely and courteous manner.
Communicates effectively with others.
Documents daily activities in the system and on weekly productivity sheets.
Gives constructive feedback. Directs inquiries to the appropriate personnel as set forth in the department guidelines. Reports issues to the Billing Office Manager.
Actively searches for methods to improve customer service or patient care.
Utilizes appropriate resources to complete billing tasks.
Participates in continuing education for the purpose of self-enrichment and increased knowledge.
Participates in department changes as a result of performance improvement activities.
Facilitates efficient operation of department by being available and prepared to work during scheduled working hours and attending meetings as requested by Management.
Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the department.
