Under direction of the Clinic Manager, is responsible to perform reception duties including answering phones and greeting patients, in load visits / charges data from EMR to EPM system, perform billing functions, enroll and orient new patients to NEMS, screen and refer eligible patients into NEMS’ participating programs, handle suggestions, answer patient’s inquire and make appointments for patients.
Supervise and discipline Medical Front Office Team.
Provide training on customer service, EPM insurance and super bill verifications, which includes keeping track of Denti-Cal or other insurance authorizations.
Interview, select, and train all front desk dental reception staff.
Approve Time Medical Front Office Team’s timecard, schedule workflow and evaluate the overall team performance.
Ensure that the customer service goals and department goals are met.
Provide training and development.
Assist with the recruiting process of the Medical Front Office Team.
Assist in Outreach projects such as organizing and planning events in the community.
Greet patients when they come to NEMS.
Answer telephone calls and respond to requests appropriately.
Inform patients of the NEMS’ services and programs.
Conduct periodic updates of demographic and financial data.
Makes appointments for patients to see NEMS’ providers.
Performs billing procedures including cashier, running receipts, and charge summaries into the computer system.
Answers phone requests and obtain proper legal consents.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor(s).
Update patient information in Computer system as needed.
Technical Duties Include:
Ensure that patient information is obtained and updated in NextGen EDR and NextGen EPM system.
Oversee that the front desk reception staff obtain Denti-Cal/Medi-Cal information.
Handle all of the billing processes, including Medi-Cal/Denti-Cal and private insurance.
Marginal Job Functions:
Attends community meetings as requested.
Participant community street fair as requested
Handles all routine filing, typing, copying, etc.
Functions as translators for patients and/or staff.
Minimum of high school degree and two years of work experience in a service profession, such as retail, banking, education, healthcare, etc.
Proficient in using computers either through classes or on the job.
Ability to interview people in a respectful and professional manner.
Bilingual in at least either: Spanish and English or Chinese (Cantonese/Mandarin) and English.
Enjoy serving a diverse population.
Ability to work at different clinic sites.
