Essential Functions:

Under the supervision of the physician, the MOA will provide and administer to the needs of the

patient's by following established procedures and standards of care accurately. Must have the

ability to organize and function effectively with a minimum of supervision while following

verbal and written orders. Previous experience in a physician's office preferred. Will perform

secretarial and receptionist duties that include greeting all patients and visitors, answering

telephones, taking messages, following up on messages; scheduling all physical exams, injury

evaluations and drug screening appointments and rescheduling or adjusting the schedule as

required. Ability to effectively communicate medical information, test results, diagnoses and or

proposed treatment in a manner easily understood by the patient. Must be able to effectively

communicate with physician and staff. Will also assist the nursing staff in basic nursing duties

such as obtaining brief histories and chief complaints from patients, assist with procedures,

administer medications, and review discharge instructions with patients. Ability to maintain

quality, safety and infection control standards. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and

skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. The individual

must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and

possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient ' s status and interpret the appropriate

information needed to identify each patient ' s requirements relative to his or her age-specific

needs, and to provide the care needed as described. Must have knowledge of insurance and

billing procedures.

Education and Training:

Graduate of Medical Assistant program; Medical Assistant certification required.

Experience:

Ability to concentrate, and pay close attention to detail while assisting with patient care. Ability to take vital signs, draw blood, collect urine drug specimens, and obtain medical histories. Must be able to give immunizations and injections. Will assist with suturing, casting, foreign body removal, and dressing changes. Knowledge of triage procedures and HIPPA regulations.

Environmental and Special Demands:

Normal office environment. Works extensively with confidential information. Must be able to work independently and possess high levels of interpersonal and communication skills. Must participate effectively in a team concept. Must be willing to travel to off-site facilities to process drug test collections. Must have excellent grammatical skills.
