The position performs a variety of functions in the medical office involving general duties, including but not limited to answering the telephone, greeting, registering and scheduling patients, collecting patient co-payments adn patient balance payments, making appointment reminder calls, verifying insurance, assembling and filing patient charts. May perform complex prior authorization for surgical services; document/relay information to determine medical necessity Able to provide backup for other positions and functions in the medical office, including medical records, scheduling, insurance verification, patient referrals, etc., and the ability to float between multiple locations as assigned . Will work to ensure patient confidentiality in all instances while maintaining a pleasant and professional appearance and conduct.
Responsible for day to day operations including patient scheduling, registration, insurance verification, check-in/out, scanning medical records, preparing forms/documentation for medical record and patient account, co-pay collection, patient balance collection, preparation of daily deposits. Reviews daily schedule and ensures timely completion of patient encounter form and clinical documentation needed for coding/billing submission. May perform daily charge entry; or relay encounter batches to central office for timely processing.
Monitors supplies and inventory; submits orders as needed. Monitors stock forms and submits updates and reorders, as needed. Serves as liaison with central SLSS office and PBS billing staff to trouble shoot patient accounts and other communication needs for remote clinic locations. May provide coverage at other locations, as needed.
Ensures the smooth function of office and effective us of provider time; creates and maintains a positive patient environment.
Assists Practice Manager, as directed, in special projects/events that build practice efficiency and growth.
1-3 years in a medical office or ambulatory clinical setting is required. Strives to become a subject matter expert in Plastics/Cosmetic surgical services. Demonstrates stellar customer service, communication and presentation skills; delivers the highest level of patient confidentiality, attention to detail and responsiveness to customer needs. Able to multi-task in a high energy environment.
