POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Chief Medical Physicist and the Radiation Oncology Medical Director, this experienced physicist provides medical physics support including advanced and complex treatment planning (SRS/SRT/SBRT/IMRS/IMRT/HDR), equipment calibrations, QC and QA measurements, dosimetry support, participate in protocol development and evaluation of new procedures, programs and services. The senior physicist will share responsibility for maintaining the department's quality control for radiation producing equipment and radioactive materials including calibrations and performance evaluations. This position reports to the Chief Physicist and provides coverage and supervision for other more junior physics/dosimetry staff as requested. Experience with the department's routine and special treatment technology (SRS/SRT/SBRT/IMRS/IMRT/HDR) and planning software's (FastPlan, Eclipse 10 and BrachyVision). Master other special and new techniques (TBI, IORT, Sirtex, Therasphere and Prostate seeds implant, APBI) as requested by the Chief Physicist. Serves as a positive influence and contributor to the entire cancer services team.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
Ph.D. or Master's Science Degree in Medical Physics. EXPERIENCE: Ten (10 )years or more direct experience in a clinical medical physics role in a radiation treatment environment.

Experience in routine quality assurance procedures, analysis and corrective action. Experience in commissioning at least 2 of the following; linear accelerators, digital imaging technology, HDR and/or treatment planning software. Experience in CT simulation and complex treatment planning. Experience in TBI techniques, TLD and other in-vivo dosimetry procedures. Experience in complex radiation oncology procedures (SRS, SRT, SBRT IMRT, HDR, Respiratory Gaiting).

TRAINING:
Training on Varian equipment and software is preferred.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS

: Certification by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) or the American Board of Medical Physics in Therapeutic Radiologic Physics (ABMP).

PERFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Physics/Dosimetry staff supervisory experience.

Ability to mentor and motivate those supervised for optimal performance and career advancement.

Ph.D. in Medical physics

Experience as an RSO; Ability to qualify and serve as an RSO if needed for coverage.

Knowledge and experience with applicable accreditation and regulatory requirements.

Experience with QA process for cooperative group trials including XRT.
