The Office Assistant I provides basic clerical support services, such as: receiving visitors, answering and directing telephone calls, sorting and distributing incoming mail and providing straightforward factual information at a reception counter or over the telephone.
This is the first of four job levels that provide administrative, secretarial and clerical services to an assigned department, division, or manager/director. Job incumbents perform a variety of duties that require knowledge of the function or department supported and an understanding of related external processes.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
MINIMUM REQUIRED: High school diploma/GED. May require knowledge of medical terminology, accounting, or other specialized knowledge. May require typing speed of 30-40 wpm. Computer literate.
PREFERRED: Prior experience in Medical Records. General office duties, including release of information and data entry. Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
MINIMUM REQUIRED: Valid California Drivers License.
