Telecare ACT-Oregon (Assertive Community Treatment) is a comprehensive, community-based program for individuals with serious mental illness (SMI). Services are provided in Clients homes, hospitals or transitional housing.

The Medical Records Assistant is responsible for the maintenance, storage and processing of all medical records. This involves performing a variety of clerical duties associated with medical records including assembling, recording, processing, data entry, data collection and preparation of reports.

In this position, you will be responsible for the maintenance, storage and processing of all clinical record including:

-Prepare and process the clinical records of all clients
-Administrative tasks such as filing, answering phones as well as administrative projects
-Back up to Receptionist
-Audit clinical records for completeness and adherence to standards
-Prepares the daily census and other reports as needed
-Order and maintain the appropriate amounts of clinical record forms and supplies
-Provides billing information to the Oregon State Office of Mental Health Services and Telecare Central Billing Office
-Reviews Clients financial status on admission and assists in obtaining benefits
-Assists Clients in communicating with representative payees as needed
-Logs and forwards past clients' mail

-Two years of experience in a medical records setting is required

-RHIT or RHIA certificate is preferred

-High School graduation or a G.E.D. equivalent is required and two years of college is preferred

-Knowledge of medical and psychiatric terminology, typing rate of 50 words per minute, familiarity with medical record files and systems, basic computer skills and knowledge of DSM coding

-Ability to work independently and possess excellent communication skills is essential

-Willingness to work with mentally impaired adults is neccessary

-Applicant must be fingerprinted and receive clearance from Criminal Justice Department
