Under the direction of the Business Office and Information Systems Manager, the Medical Records Assistant is primarily responsible for filing into the patient medical record and providing administrative support to the Home Health staff.

Minimum Qualifications

Education, Experience and Professional Licensure

High school diploma, including 2 years of secretarial preparation, required; Minimum of 2 years clerical experience required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of office management practices and procedures; Strong interpersonal and communication skills; Good telephone skills; Word processing skills with a working knowledge of Excel, Word, and basic computer software; Flexibility to meet staffing requirements; Ability to perform the essential functions of this job and to meet its functional and environmental requirements

Key Responsibility Areas

1. Clinical Paperwork

Prepares all start of care packets; Files patient paperwork in the medical record; Initiates new charts; Assists Lead Medical Records Assistant with chart discharging; Responsible for filing of MD orders; Responsible for maintaining inventory of forms

1. Administrative Support

Provides agency with current patient census; Provides case managers with recert list; Assists clinical team leaders with weekend process; Assists with chart inventory

1. Departmental Effectiveness

Assists with the orientation of new personnel, as needed; Assists management with special projects; Attends and participates in department meetings
