Medical Science Liaison - Central US, Non-invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT)
These individuals will serve as scientific ambassadors for Natera with clinicians, researchers, payer communities and other health care deliverers, working to develop relationships with those communities and educate them abtout the field of NIPT overall as well as our novel product. Additional responsibilities include working closely with Natera’s clinical, R&D, marketing, and sales teams to encourage full potential of product lifecycle and pipeline opportunities.
As the clinical and medical expert of our products, the MSL will build long-term relationships and establish rapport with clinicians in hospitals, clinics, and academic centers through highly scientific product and disease state discussions that support or expand current therapeutic concepts, and insure safe and effective utilization of our products. The MSL will be a resource to company management regarding market dynamics, business development and customer feedback.
Provide input to management regarding alternative therapies, business development opportunities/risks, and customer feedback
The MSL is the field-based scientific expert in their assigned therapy area, disease area, clinical practice and competitor landscape. Through their expertise and external interactions they will gain and share medical voice of the customer that will assist in the development and execution of innovative Medical Affairs strategies and plans that clearly support Natera’s development of diagnostic genetic testing for patients and clinicians.
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) will represent Natera and its products, with key opinion leaders, clinicians, academic institutions, and professional organizations. They will address the specific needs of these customers by responding to requests for information about our marketed and developing products. Serve as a local medical and scientific resource for internal stakeholders.
•Develop, maintain, and manage interactions with Key Opinion Leaders (“KOLs”) from the OBGYN and Genetics medical communities and other relevant healthcare professionals.. Develop strategic KOL plans to provide needs-based, value-added services
•The MSL is technologically savvy and knows how to appropriately share and use this knowledge to improve business results.
•Understands clinical program design, implementation, management/monitoring to support choice in consumer medical care. Understands the medical utilization implications of such programs.
•Actively listens to others to understand their perspective and ensure continuous understanding regardless of communication channel or audience
•Assists clinical development in identifying potential investigators and sites for company sponsored clinical trials; support clinical trials, investigator management as required in collaboration with clinical operations/clinical research
•Delivers presentations at scientific meetings and company promotional programs. Works closely with Sales and Marketing to maximize the business opportunity of these events. Contributes to slide development and medical communications.
•Depending on clinical qualifications the MSL may also discuss individual test results with healthcare providers and occasionally patients.
•Working knowledge of MS Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook business judgment, paying attention to detail, and providing appropriate level follow-up; and
•An established track record of effective and influential oral presentations within the healthcare profession
•A minimum of a M.S. degree in the life sciences. Pharm.D., M.D., Ph.D., Board Certified Genetic Counselor would be preferred
•Strong experience in establishing scientific and medical credibility
•Excellent organizational and communication skills (written and verbal) with demonstrated ability to effectively present to both internal and external customers.
•Effective time management skills required with a demonstrated ability to assess and prioritize opportunity required.
•Prior experience and knowledge working with the OB/GYN and Medical Genetics communities strongly preferred
