The position provides skilled technical assistance in performing and analyzing various clinical laboratory tests and procedures. The incumbent will assist laboratory technologists in managing all aspects of a medical laboratory.
Performs venipuncture to collect blood specimens for reference laboratory and in-house tests. Uses the electronic medical record system to order, accession, and print laboratory orders. Runs controls daily or as needed on hematology and urine analyzers and performs maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment. Provides test results by operating hematology and urinalysis equipment; performs manual differentials. Performs urine drug screens, diagnostic procedures in immuniology, mononucleosis, pregnancy, microscopy, procedures for identification and susceptability of bacteria, and other tests as ordered. Keeps laboratory stocked with essential supplies, work areas clean and decontaminated, biomedical waste disposed of in the appropriate manner, contributes to a safe and secure environment.

Candidate must possess an Associate Degree in laboratory science or equivalent and have successfully passed the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) examination. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Two years experience in a High Complexity Medical Laboratory is preferred.
