Medication Technician (Med Tech) Assisted Living

WHO WE ARE: A large and active Senior Living Community in La Mesa seeks a Medication Technician in the Medication Division of the Resident Care Department. Working conditions and morale are excellent.
This is an entry-level position that provides an opportunity to begin a career in the rapidly expanding senior care industry.

THE JOB: Reporting to the Resident Medication Supervisor, the ideal candidate for this position is a hardworking, detailed oriented, quick learner with excellent communication skills and consistent follow-through.
An outgoing, positive and friendly disposition is essential, as the position interacts extensively with residents and their families, staff from all departments, and industry professionals throughout the day.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must be able to perform a variety of medication functions, including:

. providing residents with their medications while documenting their chart;
. calling resident's physician to advise of change in conditions and following-up;
. calling pharmacy to request resident medication changes;
. updating resident medication and medical files as needed; and
. responds to resident medical emergencies until Fire Department arrives.

Must be able to work independently and implement general instructions without need of follow-up from supervisor. Fluency in speaking, reading and writing English is required. Competency in basic math is also required.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. CNA certification is highly desirable but not required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Be physically fit and able to lift 50 pounds and transfer 100 pounds using proper lifting techniques. Be able to regularly lift and carry objects weighing 30 lbs. Able to bend, squat, and stoop to floor level.

COMPENSATION: $10/hour, 37.5 hours per week. Paid time off (PTO) accrued and 50% contributed toward single party medical benefit with employee match.

BACKGROUND SCREENING: Company is subject to Title 22. Therefore applicants must pass an extensive DOJ and FBI background screen, drug test, and physical exam at company expense. Work references are required and carefully checked. Must have a clean driving record and current California driver's license.
