The University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria seeks a research faculty member at Assistant/Associate/Professor rank. Required doctorate degree (PhD or equivalent) in economics and/or medicine with focus in health economics or related field. Required strong statistical and methodological skills to conduct gastroenterological or related research and teach in collaboration with other researchers in the Center for Outcomes Research and Section of Gastroenterology. Preference for candidate with history of grants or contracts. Peoria is a mid-sized city ideal for convenient living while still close to major metropolitan centers. Duties:
Develop collaborative research program leading to extramural research funding and peer-reviewed publications

Report to and collaborate with the Director, Center for Outcomes Research

Report to and collaborate with the Director, Gastroenterology Fellowship Training Program

Teach topics related to research to medical students, residents, and/or fellows in lectures or seminars or small group learning experiences

Function as research mentor for physician-fellows training in the Gastroenterology Fellowship training program

Conduct research collaboratively with other faculty members of the College of Medicine

Support and develop the research and scholarly activities of the Department of Medicine and the Section of Gastroenterology

Serve on appropriate educational committees at the College of Medicine

Function as a faculty person within the statutes of the University of Illinois

Perform other duties as assigned by the Chair of the Department of Medicine

Qualifications:
Required interest and experience in health economics research on a wide variety of topics using advanced economic/econometric techniques

Preference for candidates with 5 years experience in health outcomes research related to gastroenterology (may include pancreatic or hepatic or biliary diseases)

Required doctorate degree ( PhD or equivalent ) in economics or/and medicine with a focus in health economics or a related field

Required strong statistical and methodological skills

Required working experience with large micro-data sets

Preference for candidates with knowledge and experience of decision modelling techniques

Required excellent written and oral presentation skills including ability to write in different styles including academic journals

Required experience as independent author or leading a team of co-authors of peer-reviewed articles

Required interest and experience in teaching at professional and graduate levels

Preference for candidates with extramural research funding or demonstrated capabilities as an independent researcher with funding from competitive extramural sources and ability to continue his or her research program

Required ability to manage/lead research projects and staff

Preference for candidates highly interested and able to foster interdisciplinary collaboration between different academic departments

Preference given to applicants with experience as faculty members in training programs approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)
