Job Description:

The Melting Manager is accountable across three shifts
for all manufacturing operations in the Melting
Department including electric arc furnaces, AOD,
refractory, ladles, scrap area, and reclamation area
operation.
The Melting Manager is responsible for the day to day
operational activities in these areas as well as
execution of strategic objectives and departmental
goals. Responsibilities include employee safety,
training, quality, productivity, and continuous
improvement for workers in these processes; plan,
coordinate and direct manufacturing activities in these
areas to achieve business results.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Create a culture where safety is a core value.
Specific functions include ergonomics improvements,
environmental compliance, incident investigations,
compliance with OSHA regulations, 6S, etc...
  • The organization, distribution, direction and training
of manpower throughout the Melting Department to achieve
targets in the areas of Safety, Quality, QVS Process
Management, Productivity, and Cost.
  • Quality: Compliance with quality policies and
procedures, customer satisfaction, elimination of
defects, scrap, rework.
  • QVS Process management: Ensure that the tools provided
in QVS Process Management framework are used to manage
all aspects of the Melting Department (defined
processes, visuals, leader standard work, and daily
accountability).
  • Productivity: Achieve production, performance to pace,
and equipment reliability goals.
  • Cost: Material and operating supplies, labor costs,
headcount, overtime, maintenance and performance to
plan.
  • Morale: attendance, communication, performance problem
solving, managing change, and skill development.

Job Requirements:
  • Related 4 year degree or equivalent foundry
experience
  • 5 years industry related management experience
  • MS Office proficiency
