DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision of the PERS Program Coordinator, monitors the health, safety and security of multiple consumers simultaneously via the electronic Personal Emergency Response System (PERS) monitors, and responds to their needs verbally, in person (providing direct care to consumer), or by arranging for an appropriate response. PERS runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays.

DUTIES

Part time position to provide support and intervention for consumers when face-to-face staff is not present in the consumer's home. Operates PERS monitors, ensuring each system is working properly. Communicates respectfully and effectively with consumers to understand their needs, while redirecting and assisting using positive decision making skills. Communicates in a professional, respectful, positive, welcoming and effective manner with co-workers and provider staff. Provides direct care to consumers when needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent

Valid driver license and reliable transportation

Flexible availability - must be available midnights, 2nd shift, weekends, holidays and when substitutions are needed

Verifiable dependability in previous employment

Able to work independently with limited/no supervision

Able to discern multiple conversations and noises while external sounds and distractions are present in a room

Good verbal and written communication skills

Able to learn computer operations and documentation procedures, operation of office equipment, and other office tasks as assigned

EXPERIENCE:
Prior experience working with developmentally disabled and/or mentally ill populations desired and strong teaming skills required.
