This MHP works with Jail inmates with mental health diagnoses to develop plans for their successful transition back into the community. Working primarily at the SCORE (South Correctional Entity) Jail in Seatac, the MHP provides clinical services to City of Tacoma inmates to engage them in mental health services and other community resources when released from jail. This position coordinates closely with the Court, Jail staff, police departments, and the Greater Lakes Jail Transition Services (JTS) Team. The MHP works with identified clients to develop transition plans, conducts court “evaluation and advise” assessments, assists clients to connect to community resources, and coordinates with community providers. This is a key position, due to the level of coordination between multiple organizations and the ability to function both independently and as part of these various teams.

The ideal candidate for this position must be a qualified Mental Health Professional in this state with a Master's degree in a mental health related field from an accredited college or university and at least two years of full-time clinical mental health experience under the direct supervision of an MHP, all of which must be thoroughly documented and verified.
