Completion of an accredited associate, baccalaureate or master’s degree program in Nursing. Licensed as a registered nurse by the State of Minnesota. CPR for the professional rescuer or BLS for healthcare providers required.
Knowledge of current nursing practices and techniques. Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing. Ability to effectively participate on an interdisciplinary treatment team. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with patients, family member and co-workers.
Patients on this unit are acutely ill patients with psychiatric conditions such as schizophrenia, bipolar illness, personality disorders, chemical dependency, with many of our patients having multiple diagnoses and at the same time dealing with a wide range of medical issues. This is an all male unit with a younger patient mix. Nurses, nursing assistants, HUCs, social workers, occupational therapists, physicians, and psychologists collaborate in facilitating the care of each patient.
Average length of stay is 13 days.
Average Daily Census is 18-19 patients.
