Position Summary: The incumbent in this position oversees all financial analysis and reporting for either the Commercial Group Accounts Strategic Business Unit (SBU) or the Individual Market SBU, identifies financial risk and proposes solutions to mitigate those risks and strengthen key controls. The Manager will use substantial judgment in determining approach and methodology to be used for all key responsibilities. The ideal candidate will make recommendations for process improvements in line with HealthNow goals and objectives that will enhance efficiencies and improve profitability. The individual in this role reports to the Director of Finance and supervises a team of analysts; in this capacity, the manager provides leadership through coaching and mentoring and ensures staff has strategically aligned business and development goals.

Primary Job Duties:
  • Oversee the generation and analysis of internal monthly financial reports. Perform detailed review of all deliverables and provide feedback to staff for improvement. Ensure metrics and analytics provide meaningful conclusions in which strategic business decisions can be reliably and intuitively surmised. Recommend enhancements to existing reports and suggest efficiencies to data retrieval methodology. (20%)
  • Manage the financial statement budget and forecasting process for the SBU; complete historical comparisons and trend analyses, as needed, providing explanations for variances and interpretation of results to be used by those making economic and business decisions. (Comm 25% IM 10%)
  • Work closely with the Finance Director to create memorandums, graphical presentations and financial reports for submission to executive management. (Comm 10% IM 15%)
  • Participate in various initiatives that have financial implications to the SBU. Attend and/or hold meetings (with, or in lieu of, the Finance Director) to address and resolve financial matters at an SBU level. (15%)
  • Manage the development of ad hoc reports and analyses. Employ effective communication skills, as necessary, to determine depth and extent of reporting requests. Review and approve the development of and calculations for payout sales incentives. Oversee the broker compensation function and contribute to the evaluation of the effectiveness of current broker programs and future plan design, as necessary. Perform analysis of changes to programs and forecast financial impacts. (10%)
  • Manage a team of analysts and provide continual coaching and skills development. Monitor performance against goals, provide feedback and assess and differentiate performance. Encourage innovative thinking and initiative in actions by the team. (Comm 20% IM 10%)
  • For Individual Market SBU position: Create, distribute and submit reports as required by the State and Federal government agencies in accordance with required time frames. Ensures compliance with government regulations. Ensures accuracy of reports and obtains attestation of submitted data where necessary. Responsible for overseeing all financial audits of all State and Federal Products. Interaction with all levels of internal management and staff, as well as, government representatives; consultants and external auditors. (IM 20%)

Required Experience Preferred Education: Bachelors Degree (N/A)

Preferred Experience: Minimum 5 years related work experience, healthcare or health insurance industry experience preferred, but not required. Previous supervisory/management experience required. MBA or other advanced professional certifications preferred.
