Charged with establishing and cultivating business and professional relationships with big box retailers, primarily Home Depot. These relationships should be leveraged to profitably grow our market share and drive sales of Acuity Brands products within the stock and flow arena. Responsible for being the company's eyes and ears within the marketplace and serve as the voice of our customer to internal company functions.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
Develop stock and flow strategies for Home Depot. Analyze and identify what is being sold and stocked within our distributors' locations and the underlying reasons for this. Visually inspect shelves and meet with key merchants during calls while working to create pull at the contractor level.
Provide product, policy, promotion and business system training for our customer. This is achieved through on-going training and communication with internal functions as well as direct field contact with our agency and distributor personnel.
Heavily promote new products and capabilities, seeking opportunities and applications within the new construction and retrofit markets. Communicate our successes to the field and work with merchants on joint sales calls.
Support our volume incentive customers and work with them to maximize their participation and increase brand awareness and preference for Acuity Brands products.
Support all national, regional and strategic account promotions. Monitor and communicate results to both agency and distributor personnel.
Develop open lines of communication with our assigned agencies. Understand their business models and our customers' business models so that the position can add value during territory sales calls.
Work with the HD sales team, operations partners and product groups to develop agency sales targets as well as implement plans to help each agency achieve these goals.
Responsible for serving in the role of problem solver and resolver as it relates to all aspects of sales development, pre-order phase, active order phase and post sales issue resolution. Manages priorities, seeks the value of a task in relationship to others then completes the most important first.
Required Years of Experience
6 to 8 years
Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent
Strong understanding of lighting products and lighting business and distribution. Strong interpersonal and effective consultative selling skills required. Effective presentation skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Deep understanding of Lighting business systems
Medium work – Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and /or up to 20 pounds of forces frequently, and /or 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Overnight travel required. Percentage of travel based upon geographic needs.
