Provide acute, chronic, emergency and preventive care to outlying village residents in accordance with NSHC’s mission, philosophy, policies, and procedures while under the direct supervision of medical doctors in Nome.

Assess, plan and provide patient care under the supervision of a physician
Examine patient, perform comprehensive physical examinations, and compile patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination
Ensure proper illness and injury care and disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery
Use the appropriate process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation when: assessing the patient’s condition and needs; setting outcomes; implementing appropriate actions to meet the patient’s/family’s physical, emotional, spiritual, social, intellectual and safety needs; and evaluating patient’s progress
Ensure patient care is accomplished effectively and efficiently in a cost effective manner, discharge planning is carried out, and the medical regime for each patient is implemented as prescribed by the physician
Participate in facilitating patient’s and family’s learning by explaining the patients' disease process and planned interventions to patient/family
Demonstrate ability to care for medical, critically ill, traumatically injured, mental health, emergency, maternal/neonate, and pediatric patient populations according to policy and procedure when medically necessary.
