A graduate of a college or university with a bachelor’s degree in a human services field and has two years of fulltime, post-bachelor’s degree accumulated MH/DD/SAS experience or a substance abuse professional who has two years of full-time post-bachelor’s degree accumulated supervised experience in alcoholism and drug abuse counseling.
One year crisis experience with MH/DD/SA population is required.
Provide crisis interventions for consumers in crisis as part of the mobile crisis team. Collaborate with a variety of agencies including: the LME, law enforcement, DSS, schools, and hospitals to provide a coordinated response to an individual’s crisis. Complete assessments and interventions that address the consumer’s risk for self-harm, serious self-neglect, victimization and violence. Assist the consumer and family or natural support system in developing a strength-based crisis plan focused on recognition of crisis triggers, increased coping skills, and safe resolution of crisis events. Work as a team with other Mobile Crisis staff to effectively intervene with consumers in crisis. Provide transportation as needed for consumers in crisis (when appropriate). Consult with clinical assessment specialist or on-call supervisor as necessary when completing assessments with regard to suicide risk, risk of violence or substance abuse assessments.
