Job Description:

This company is an amazing start-up in the Search space that is developing a brand new Search utility for your online life. They are new on the scene and already getting rave reviews and comments like, “The implicit personal profile that they could generate and use for targeted advertising is arguably stronger than the profile Google can develop with search behavior.”

  • Backed by Sequoia, a key Facebook executive, as well as a number of other notable Bay area investors.
Deliver innovative search experiences to users on the go, on Android and/or iPhone.

We've all experienced the pain of trying to find a phone number, address, or flight confirmation number on our phone. Our search utility is uniquely positioned to make these problems go away.

You should live on your phone - you probably have 8 pages of apps downloaded. You've probably built a few in your spare time for fun.

You should care deeply about user experience - about making an intuitive, lightning fast product.

  • Great programming skills - keep easy problems easy, debug large systems, write maintainable code
  • Experience with iOS/Objective-C and/or Android/Java
  • Able to excel in a collaborative, iterative environment.
  • Bonus: Eye for visual design and user experience
You should love using code to solve hard problems. You should know the fastest way to do something - which sometimes means the least CPU cycles and sometimes means the least programmer cycles. Your knowledge of data structures and algorithms should be solid - whether you learned it at a university, from a book, or through experience. You'll commit code your first day.

  • Ranking for personal data. Emails and wall posts don't have PageRank - but they do have a wealth of other signals waiting to be explored.
  • Bringing in massive amounts of data from diverse sources. We grab data from a lot of APIs for a lot of users. It's a great scaling problem and a problem in building very robust systems.
  • Content analysis. In my inbox I have messages, calendar invites, flight confirmations, receipts, photos, bills, and more. Can we detect any of that rich data?
  • Making everything really fast.
The search bar for your online life. Our clients’ search utility indexes everything you create on different websites (like Facebook, Gmail, Dropbox, Basecamp, and provides lightning fast search of all your information in one place. Never again will you have to login to multiple websites and dig through mountains of data just to track down a single piece of forgotten info.

Their mission is to help you find your stuff. Quickly. They’re Sequoia-backed and growing fast.

They are flexible on experience and education - they care most about your ability to build clean solutions and make a lot of progress on hard problems. You should know the fastest way to do something - which sometimes means the least CPU cycles and sometimes means the least programmer cycles.

They love and believe in open source!

You'll be a part of a small motivated team that love nothing more than writing code that solves real world problems. You'll commit code your first day.
