Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge of specialization to the completion of complex assignments.
Detail oriented with excellent research and decision making ability. Exceptional analytical skills and ability to work efficient under deadline pressures.
Certified as a Direct Endorsement (DE) Underwriter as well as a VA Staff Appraisal Reviewer (SAR).
Advanced computer knowledge with proficiency in word processing programs, loan origination systems as well as automated systems used in loan underwriting.
Excellent spelling, grammar and interpersonal skills to be able to communicate in courteous professional, tactful and concise manner.
Associate Degree from an accredited college/university and 5 or more years experience in residential lending underwriting. Relevant experience may substitute for the education requirement.

Provides quality loans for the Bank by underwriting and evaluating residential mortgage applications originated by the Mortgage Account Executives. Approves or rejects residential loans within limit of authority. Works with Mortgage Account Executive to assist them in qualifying loans. Keeps informed on current practices in loan underwriting. Operates with substantial latitude for unreviewed action or decision.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
•Reviews and evaluates information on mortgage loan documents to determine if buyer,
property, and loan conditions meet establishment and government standards.
•Ensures borrower meets all Investor’s guidelines by analyzing the credit report,
income, assets and collateral.
•Evaluates acceptability of loan to Investors that buy loans that conform to secondary markets or Investors’ specifications, including Conventional, FHA, VA and USDA guidelines.
•Determines terms and acceptability of risk of prospective business.
•Confirms pricing matches underwriting program being utilized.
•Performs extensive appraisal review to determine property value and compliance with
Investor guidelines and regulations and utilize additional AVM tools as needed or
required by the specific investor.
•Approves or rejects loan application, or requests additional information. Assists in
identifying, recommending and/or negotiating alternative loan requirements, funding
and/or loan structuring solutions.
•Provides factual feedback to the Mortgage Account Executives and Mortgage Processors in regards to the loan status.
•Maintains current reference materials for each Investor and program offerings.
•Assembles documents in loan files, including acceptance or denial, and returns files to
originating mortgage loan office.
•Ensures adherence to policies, procedures, standards, guidelines and regulatory laws
as detailed in policies but are not limited to REG Z, REG X, HMDA, Fair Lending, Bank
Secrecy Act, and etc.
•Responds to internal and regulatory audits and reviews.
•Renders final underwriting decision of approved, suspended or denied loans.
•Provides a narrative and supporting data to sustain final underwriting decision.
All associates must understand and adhere to the non-negotiable Banker Standards and commit to practicing SGNNT at all times. Associates will consistently follow policies and procedures as established by Capital City Bank, with department managers setting the standard.
